 Vocabulary:

 get rid of: to remove something that you do not want any longer.

 Examples:

  I can’t wait to get rid of that ugly old couch /kaʊtʃ/.

                    couch 


  You should always get rid of unwanted items in an appropriate way if you want to keep the environment clean.

 degradation /ˌdeɡ.rəˈdeɪ.ʃən/  the process in which the beauty or quality of something is destroyed or spoiled.
         
 Examples:

 By throwing away things we do not need, we contribute to the degradation of the environment.

 One of the effects of environmental degradation is the absence of fish in that river.

 run out: to finish, use, or sell all of something, so that there is none left.

 Examples:

 I've run out of milk/money/ideas/patience.

 I've run out of milk - would you like some creamer instead?

 dispose of sthto get rid of something; throw out or destroy.


 Examples:


 Every month he must dispose of the oil his restaurant uses to fry potatoes.


  Radioactive waste must be disposed of safely. (passive voice)
