 Formal Letter Format:

A formal letter has a format that needs to be followed. A typical formal letter format is:


 Sender’s address
 Date
 Name / Designation of Addressee
 Address of the Addressee
 Salutation
 Subject
 Body – Introduction, Content, Conclusion
Complimentary Close
 Signature / Name of the Sender
 Designation of the Sender

Kindly let me know about the procedure of applying for the qualifying test and its date. I would also like to know the duration of the coaching programme, the duration and the number of classes per week along with the available mode of classes.  Read these extracts from newspapers. They are about human rights violations in different parts of the world:

 Children are forced to work long hours in carpet factories for little money; they cannot go to school.
 The government punishes a couple for having a second child.
 A criminal is held in prison for months without being charged or judged.
 Women in some countries are not allowed to attend school or hold jobs.

 Choose a newspaper extract and go back to the UDHR and find out which human right is violated.

 Write a formal letter to the president of a human rights association:
 Tell him/her about the news.
 Tell him/her about the article from the UDHR that it violates. Suggest to him/her what action they should do.
